Weekly message from Mr. Poland

Parents and Guardians at Buckeye Trail High School,

Each week I will share a short review of our week activities and a brief reminder of upcoming events and happenings.

This past week, we started the YouScience aptitude test in an effort to help students select an appropriate pathway.  Please visit youscience.com to learn more about what your child is working on each day.

The student code of conduct and attendance expectations can be found on the High School tab located at eglsd.net.  Some of the more common infractions involve electronic cigarettes, cell phone violations and dress code issues.  With some minor infractions we attempt to resolve issues without parent involvement.  Primarily, we utilize this approach with missing homework/classwork.  If the issue is not corrected after three attempts, we will contact parents and increase parental involvement.  This improves your student’s conflict resolution ability and increases student independence.

Please make sure you have completed all OneView parent paperwork. The technology permission slip needs to be completed by September 22nd.  Failure to complete that form will result in your student’s Chromebook being deactivated.

Loss or destruction of assigned Chromebook, charger or case will result in a financial cost to the parent/student.

Next week is the Guernsey County Fair.  Monday and Tuesday will be typical block schedules. Wednesday has changed to an eight-period day. The campus will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Thank you for all your support. We have had a very solid start to the school year and we will continue to communicate with you on a regular basis.

Enjoy your weekend,

Duane A. Poland
