Corporal Tyler Hostutler, known to his fellow Marines as "Hoss," is a dedicated and highly skilled Marine with the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 2841 - Ground Electronics Telecommunications and Information Technology Systems Maintainer. After graduating from Buckeye Trail High School and Mid East Vocational School, he joined the United States Marine Corps, driven by a desire to serve his country and apply his technical skills in a meaningful way.
Cpl Hostutler excelled in his MOS training, mastering the intricate systems used in Marine Corps communications and information technology. His ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various communication equipment quickly earned him a reputation as the go-to technician expert in his unit.
As his career progressed, Cpl Hostutler found himself serving in some challenging and critical assignments. Serving alongside 2nd Assault Amphibious Battalion (AAB) (May 2021 – October 2022) He participated in Operation Allies Welcome, where he played a pivotal role in setting up and maintaining the telecommunications systems used to coordinate the safeguard of allies and refugees from Afghanistan. His expertise ensured that vital communication lines remained open during a high-pressure operation.
Cpl Hostutler’s skills were once again put to the test while serving with 2nd Marine Regiment (October 2022 – Present) during Operation Southwest Border Surge, where he was deployed to support border security efforts. His work was instrumental in maintaining surveillance and communication systems along the U.S.-Mexico border, aiding in the protection of national security.
Throughout his career, Cpl Hostutler has been acknowledged for his unwavering commitment, technical expertise, and the crucial role he plays in ensuring that the Marine Corps' communication and information technology systems operate effectively in the most demanding situations. His dedication to service, combined with his passion for technology, has made him an invaluable asset to the Marine Corps and to the nation's defense efforts.
